Sani Pass
A trip up Sani Pass is a 'must do' excursion for any
visitor to the
Kingdom of the Zulu. It is a dramatic 4-by-4 trip climbing
1 330 m
in six and a half kms. The road to the 'Roof of
Africa' snakes
upwards beneath towering cliffs, past tumbling waterfalls,
colourful
plants and unique wildlife.
The pass is named after the San people that once lived in
the area.
It was originally a bridle path and a route for migrating
game.
To get to the top of Sani you must have your passport as
you will
have to travel through both a South African and a Lesotho
border
post. There are a number of tour operators who take
tourists up this
pass.
